How to Report and Block a stolen phone via PTA

How to Report and Block a stolen phone via PTA

In large cities such as Karachi and Lahore, it is common to lose or have your phone stolen. It is nearly impossible to find your phone again, so most people prefer to block it remotely to ensure that your valuable information does not get into the wrong hands.

Thank goodness, Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) recently launched a new online complaint system for reporting and blocking lost or stolen mobile phones. This new Lost & Stolen Device System (LSDS) makes it easy for you to file a complaint online with all the details so you can report it right away. Here’s how you can do it for yourself.

How to report and block your device

Please follow this link to reach the PTA online complaint system. In the complaint form, you will have to provide personal information, including your name, address, email address, CNIC, etc. In addition, you will be required to provide details of the lost device and the reason for blocking.

Below is a sample complaint form.

(You will only see this version of the form when you click on “Stolen Mobile Handset/IMEI Related Complaint?” under “Complaint Details” in the link provided above)

When you file a complaint, you’ll get a complaint number, and your number will be blocked within 24 hours.

How to Unblock Your Device

If you’ve recovered your lost or stolen device, you can get it unblocked through PTA. Just return to PTA’s online complaint form and click “Yes” under the heading “Stolen Mobile Handset / IMEI Related Complaint”. Ensure you select “Unblocking” under the “Complaint Details” section, which should result in a much smaller form than before.

Here’s how it looks.

In this section, you will need to provide the complaint reference number you received after completing the first form and any other relevant information. Additionally, you will be required to verify your identity via an OTP (one-time-password), and you will also receive an SMS from PTA once your device is unblocked.

Please note that PTA’s previous methods of reporting and blocking mobile phones (emails and phone calls) are no longer available. This concludes our guide to reporting and blocking a stolen or lost phone through PTA.
