The Sony Ericsson T610 with QuickShare has won the Award for Best Mobile Handset, Terminal or Device in the Technology Innovation section at the 3GSM Congress in Cannes. Since its release in 2003, the T610 has become the best-selling camera phone in many European markets and has already received numerous industry and consumer awards.
The triple-band GSM/GPRS T610 is the first Sony Ericsson product to feature QuickShare, making it easy for consumers to use applications. The phone also boasts a new user interface with 12 animated icons and rich colors, further enhancing its user-friendly design.
The T610’s features include a 65,536-color screen and an integrated digital camera. The phone also comes with a Phone Flash accessory, allowing users to take photos in dark environments. Bluetooth connectivity enables users to share information between the phone, a PC, and other devices, either locally or across mobile networks via MMS or email.
In addition to its camera capabilities, the T610 supports the Java and Mophun platforms for downloadable games and allows users to play games with others via Bluetooth wireless technology. The phone also features Music DJ, a melody composer that allows users to create and edit polyphonic ring signals using pre-mixed drum, bass-line, and melody blocks.
According to the judges, the T610 is “a great phone, almost faultless. Everything on it works. It opens up access to applications and technologies that people were not using before – now they use them because they can.”
The T610 was up against stiff competition from the Treo 600, Motorola A835, and Sharp GX20, all of which were nominated for the Best Mobile Terminal, Handset or Device Award.
