Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 chipset features improved AI performance and similar specs to the Snapdragon 7 Gen 2, with some downgrades in CPU and display departments. It has an octa-core CPU, Adreno 710 GPU, and supports up to 3200 MHz LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 storage.

The latest chipset from Qualcomm, Snapdragon 6 Gen 3, has silently appeared on the company website over the weekend. The new mid-range platform takes over from the Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 as the company seemingly forgot there’s no second-gen version of the 4nm chip.

The Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 brings improved AI performance for tasks like activity tracking and noise cancellation during calls. The chip is similar to the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 with some downgrades in the CPU and Display departments.

Here’s a comparison table between the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3, Snapdragon 6 Gen 1, and Snapdragon 7s Gen 2:

The Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 comes with an octa-core CPU, matching the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2’s setup architecture, but falling slightly short in the efficiency cores clock. The chip also supports displays with up to Full HD+ resolution at 120 Hz refresh rate, but not 144 Hz, like the 7s.

Qualcomm used an Adreno 710 GPU and the chip supports both the older LPDDR4X and newer LPDDR5 RAM versions, but only UFS 3.1 storage. Connectivity support includes Bluetooth 5.2 and Wi-Fi 6E.

In the camera department, the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 can handle a 48 MP single sensor for continuous reads, 32 MP and 16 MP dual sensors, or up to 200 MP photo capture.

Qualcomm did not publish an official press release about the chipset, and we don’t know when the product will be available to OEMs.
