Mega-Pixel Pioneer: Europe’s First Camera

Vodafone introduces the Sharp GX30, a camera phone with a 1 million pixel CCD camera, the first of its kind in Europe. It features a 2.4-inch QVGA screen, 1.2-inch front screen, SD card slot, MP3 player, voice recorder, and supports Java. It also has a light for shooting in the dark.

Vodafone has introduced a new product in Vodafone live!, the Sharp GX30, a camera phone boasting a mega-pixel camera. This GSM network-enabled device is the successor to popular handsets like the GX10, GX10i, and GX20. The built-in CCD camera can capture high-quality images with a resolution of 1 million pixels, a first in Europe.

The Sharp GX30 also features a 2.4-inch screen with QVGA (240×320) resolution and 262,144 colors, as well as a 1.2-inch second front screen with 65,536 colors. Other notable features include an SD (Secure Digital) card slot for storing images and music, an MP3 player/voice recorder, Movie Mail for recording up to 20 seconds of sound and vision, Java support, and a built-in light for shooting in low-light conditions.
