August’s final week has come to a close, and we’re already looking forward to September. Our top stories of the week include the announcement dates of Apple’s iPhone 16 series and Infinix’s Hot 50 5G.
The Infinix Hot 50 5G, touted as the “slimmest and most reliable 5G smartphone,” is set to launch on September 5. Apple’s quartet of iPhone 16, 16 Plus, 16 Pro, and 16 Pro Max will debut on September 10, likely alongside the new Apple Watch and Watch Ultra, and new AirPods.
Google’s Pixel 9a has leaked with an almost flush camera bar, and the phone is expected to launch later this year.
Samsung’s Galaxy S25 Ultra is said to be thinner and lighter than the Google Pixel 9 Pro XL and iPhone 16 Pro Max, weighing in at less than 221 grams.
Tecno has unveiled the Phantom Ultimate 2 tri-fold concept phone, which expands from a 6.48-inch screen size to a 10-inch diagonal. Although Tecno didn’t reveal exact plans for launching its first tri-fold device, it’s an exciting first look at the future of foldable phones.
A hands-on video has appeared online showing a likely dummy iPhone 16 Pro Max in Desert Titanium, which looks more brown than gold.
In other news, Infinix has launched the Note 40 Pro and Pro+ Racing Edition in India, which are already on open sale.
Finally, we’ve completed our review of the Samsung Galaxy Ring, which we found to be a joy to have.
As for awards, Sony, Oppo, and Huawei have snatched the EISA 2024 awards, with Honor 200 Pro taking home the best smartphone award.
