Nippon Telegraph Telephone (NTT), a Japan-based telecommunication company, is set to release the world’s first portable solar-cell system, dubbed Pocket Energy. This innovative product enables users to recharge their mobile devices in situations where a power supply is unavailable. The system consists of a solar panel, an electricity-storing tablet, and connecting cables.
To use Pocket Energy, users must expose the solar panel to direct sunshine for four hours, allowing them to charge their cell phone for up to four hours of uninterrupted use. This means that mobile phone users can enjoy their favorite MP3 music, play mobile games, and stay connected on the go. However, it’s worth noting that Pocket Energy is not capable of recharging notebooks.
NTT plans to release Pocket Energy in May 2023, initially in Japan for approximately $190. The company intends to make the product available globally in the near future.
