The Motorola Moto G55 boasts a subtle upgrade with a Dimensity 7025 processor, 10-20% increased speed, and an 8MP ultrawide camera. The newly-announced Motorola Moto G55 was recently unveiled, and we had the opportunity to get some hands-on time with it. Here are our initial impressions.

The Moto G55 is a subtle upgrade over its predecessor, the G54. It features a Dimensity 7025 processor, which offers a slightly higher clock speed than the 7020 processor in the G54. Additionally, the G55 comes with the same 6.5-inch 120Hz LCD display and up to 12GB of RAM.

The battery capacity remains unchanged at 5,000mAh, and the new Moto G55 replaces the 2MP macro camera with an 8MP ultrawide camera featuring its own macro mode. Charging speed has also been doubled to 30W.

From a design perspective, the Moto G55 shares many elements with its predecessor, including the fun color options and vegan leather finish. However, it has a more flowing design language that is in line with Motorola’s recent efforts.

The camera module has also undergone a subtle redesign, with the element rising from the back panel in a more gradual manner. The new Moto G55 is available in Smoky Green and Twilight Purple colors, with the blue option from the G54 having been discontinued.

The vegan leather finish adds a unique texture and tactile feel to the device, making it easier to handle. It also adds a sense of naturalness and uniqueness to the phone.

The Moto G55 still features a 3.5mm audio jack and microSD card slot (up to 1TB), which are not common in many modern smartphones. It also comes with Dolby Atmos-ready stereo speakers, a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, and Android 14 out of the box.

The camera system has been improved with the addition of an ultrawide camera, but the main and selfie cameras remain the same 50MP and 16MP sensors, respectively. 1080p video recording is still supported, but 4K recording is absent, which is a bit surprising given the current year.

The Motorola Moto G55 is available alongside the Moto G35, which features a slightly larger 6.72-inch display. The two phones have similar designs, with the main difference being the display size.

Here’s a look at the Moto G55 and G35 side by side. The Moto G55 (right) offers a more compact design, while the G35 has a slightly larger display.
