Ming-Chi Kuo, an analyst, has clarified that only the iPhone 17 Pro Max will have 12GB of RAM, while the other models will have 8GB. The Pro Max will also feature an upgraded cooling system and enhanced AI capabilities, making it a major selling point.

Yesterday, a rumor emerged claiming that all iPhone 17 models would come with 12GB of RAM, a significant upgrade from the 8GB found in the iPhone 16 series. However, TF International Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has clarified this claim.
According to Kuo, only the iPhone 17 Pro Max will have 12GB of RAM, while the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Slim will still feature 8GB, matching the specifications of the upcoming iPhone SE.
The Pro Max is also set to receive an upgraded cooling system that combines vapor chamber technology with graphite sheets. The rest of the iPhone 17 family will stick to graphite sheets, consistent with previous models.
Kuo noted that the Pro Max currently accounts for almost 40% of iPhone sales, making it Apple’s revenue and profit leader among hardware products. As a result, it’s likely that Apple will continue to implement a differentiation strategy, reserving the most advanced features for the Pro Max to maximize profits.
