Pakistan Software Houses Association for Development of Technology (P@SHA) Chairman Muhammad Zohaib Khan has been honored with the first IT Icon Award by Ecommerce Gateway for his outstanding contributions to the local industry. The award was presented to him by State Minister for IT and Telecommunication Shaza Fatima during the inaugural session of the 25th ITCN Asia.
Zohaib Khan has dedicated 15 years of his career to the IT association, serving in various capacities including chairman, vice chairman, and member of the central executive committee. Under his leadership, the country achieved its highest-ever export earnings of over $3.2 billion in FY24, and Pakistan hosted the APICTA Awards for the first time in 2023 for regional economies.
He has also led the IT industry to several milestones, such as IT export awards, tax incentives at the federal and provincial levels, 50 percent retention of foreign exchange facilities in bank accounts, and the formation of Tech Destination Pakistan in collaboration with policymakers and a private bank. During his tenure, he revamped the secretariat of P@SHA and its research and development units.
Furthermore, Zohaib Khan played a key role in leading various Pakistani IT companies to expand their presence in countries like GCC and European states. Currently, he is actively involved in the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC), aiming to boost IT exports to a record $10 billion in the next few years.
State Minister Shaza Fatima acknowledged the vital role of stakeholders in the country’s economic growth. She praised the leadership of P@SHA under Zohaib Khan, stating that they have done an exceptional job in achieving historical milestones for Pakistan. The government is eager to collaborate with P@SHA’s leadership in the future, she added.
Project Director ITCN Umair Nizam emphasized that the launch of the IT Icon Awards is intended to recognize individuals who have served the IT and tech industry with dedication and unwavering efforts. He noted that honoring their achievements and vision on local and global platforms will encourage more leaders to serve the industry and the country.
