The HMD Fusion phone is now available in Europe, with prices starting at €269.99 for the 6GB RAM and 128GB storage model. The phone features a modular design with interchangeable covers, allowing users to add features like wireless charging. First-party covers will be available in October-December.
The HMD Fusion, a modular smartphone with interchangeable covers, is now available for purchase from HMD itself in Europe. The phone can be had for €269.99 with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, or €299.99 with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.
The phone’s modular design is its main selling point, with what HMD calls “Fusion outfits” that can add features such as wireless charging, rugged protection, and a ring light. However, HMD is not the first company to try its hand at modularity, and none of the others have succeeded. This may not bode well for HMD.
The first-party Fusion outfits will become available between October and December, but for now, customers can only buy the phone itself. HMD’s Fusion Development Toolkit allows users to create their own designs using 3D printing technology if they so desire.
Beyond its modular design, the Fusion features a 6.56-inch IPS LCD screen with HD+ resolution and a 90Hz refresh rate, a 108MP main camera, a 50MP selfie camera, and a 5,000mAh battery with support for 33W wired charging. The phone is powered by the Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 chipset.
