Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra to have upgraded ultrawide camera only

The Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra is expected to launch in January with an upgraded 50MP ultrawide camera using the Samsung ISOCELL JN3 sensor. However, the other cameras will remain unchanged from the Galaxy S24 Ultra, contradicting a previous rumor.

Samsung’s Galaxy S25 Ultra is expected to launch in January, and it’s been making headlines lately. According to Chinese leakster Ice Universe, the device will feature an upgraded ultrawide camera.

The S25 Ultra will reportedly boast a 50 MP ultrawide camera using the Samsung ISOCELL JN3 sensor, with a 0.7um pixel size. However, this upgrade only applies to the ultrawide camera, as the other cameras will remain unchanged from the Galaxy S24 Ultra. This contradicts a previous rumor that claimed the 3x telephoto camera would also receive an upgrade.

An unofficial render of the Galaxy S25 Ultra based on leaked information gives us a glimpse of the device’s design. The render shows a slightly thinner and lighter device compared to its predecessor.

The S25 Ultra will feature the same ISOCELL HP2 200 MP main camera, the same 10 MP 3x zoom camera using Sony’s IMX754 sensor, and the same 50 MP 5x zoom camera using Sony’s IMX854.

Recent rumors suggest that the S25 Ultra will only be available with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chipset globally, and will come with more RAM than its predecessor. The device will also have a larger screen with smaller bezels, but the same battery capacity as the S24 Ultra. On the bright side, the S25 Ultra will be the thinnest and lightest top-of-the-line device when it launches.
