Oppo Find N5 and OnePlus Open 2 to debut with impressively thin designs

Oppo’s next foldable phone, the Find N5, is coming soon, according to a leaked post. It will feature a Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 processor, 2K+ inner folding screen, 50MP main camera, and improved water resistance. The phone will be around 9mm thick and may be released in China between January and March.

Oppo’s next book-style foldable device is on the horizon, according to a now-deleted post by renowned Chinese leakster Digital Chat Station. The upcoming smartphone is dubbed Find N5 and is expected to succeed the Find N3, released in October last year.

The company is likely to skip the “4” moniker due to tetraphobia, a widespread Chinese fear of the number four. The Find N5 will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 4, and will feature a “2K+” inner folding screen, a 50 MP main camera with a Sony sensor, a periscope telephoto camera, and a circular camera island.

The phone will boast a slim profile, measuring just over 9mm in thickness, which is comparable to the current record holder for the world’s thinnest foldable smartphone, Honor’s Magic V3. Whether the Find N5 can snatch this title remains to be seen, but its under-10mm thickness is still an impressive feat.

Additionally, the Find N5 is rumored to feature improved water resistance, compared to its predecessor’s IPX4 rating for splash resistance, and a three-stage alert slider. According to rumors, the phone is expected to be released between January and March, with a possible international release as the OnePlus Open 2, although details about the global launch are scarce.
