Pakistan’s cellular subscriber base increased by 394,000 to 192.924 million in July 2024. 3G and 4G users also rose to 136.312 million. Jazz, Zong, Telenor, and Ufone all saw changes in their 3G and 4G user numbers. The PTA received 19,188 complaints, with 99% resolved, mainly against cellular mobile operators.
The number of cellular subscribers in Pakistan increased by 394,000 to reach 192.924 million by the end of July 2024, according to data from the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA).
The number of 3G and 4G users in the country also rose from 134.78 million by the end of June to 136.312 million by the end of July 2024. Next Generation Mobile Service (NGMS) penetration increased from 55.61% by the end of June to 56.15% by the end of July 2024.
Despite this growth, Jazz’s total count of 3G users declined by 144,000 to 2.897 million by the end of July, while its 4G users increased by 698,000 to 47.993 million during the same period. Zong’s 3G subscribers decreased by 28,000 to 1.955 million, while its 4G users increased by 488,000 to 37.153 million.
Telenor’s 3G subscribers decreased by 37,000 to 1.551 million, while its 4G users increased by 249,000 to 24.929 million. Ufone’s 3G users stood at 2.197 million by the end of July, with a decrease of 41,000 from the previous month. Its 4G users increased by 323,000 to 15.975 million.
The PTA received 19,188 complaints from telecom consumers against different operators in July 2024, with 99% of them resolved. The majority of complaints were against cellular mobile operators, with 18,585 reported and 99.1% addressed. Jazz received 6,783 complaints, with 99.8% resolved; Telenor received 3,198, with 99.1% addressed; Zong received 6,362, with 99.4% resolved; and Ufone received 2,211, with 95.8% resolved.
The PTA also received 162 complaints against basic telephony, with 96.9% resolved, and 426 against internet service providers, with 96.9% addressed.
