Netflix 'add a home' feature is rolling out to curb password sharing

Netflix is prepping up to roll out the ad-based subscription next year in the global market. Even approximately 8 months before the launch, the rumours regarding the subscription have already started making headlines. In a recent development, it has been revealed that Netflix will not show ads for all the movies and shows available on the platform. This means that some of the content on the platform will be commercial-free.

According to a report published by Bloomberg, Netflix is planning to search ads from a few kids’ shows and original films. Viewers may not see ads in the recently launched films and this will also help the audience in experiencing the movie without gettings irritated by ads. In addition, the report also suggests that few studios may not allow ads on their films or shows. In that case, Netflix may stream the ads before or after the show.

Netflix ad-tier subscription details

Until now, the timeline at which the ads will be shown is in the wraps. Another rumour which sounds like a turn-off is that the users who opt for ad subscriptions will be unable to download shows and movies. So, all the customers who are planning to buy the ad-based plan can say goodbye to offline streaming. It is also in the air that the platform will not allow the ad tier users to access the fresh content.

All of this is happening because Netflix saw a considerable loss of subscribers and revenue in the country. That’s not the only thing hindering the growth of Netflix in the country. Its competitors like Disney+ Hotstar and Amazon Prime Video are creating decent content at low prices which is a major issue for Netflix. The low-cost ad-based subscription is a move by Netflix to gain the users back. Speculations are that Netflix will soon introduce a paid password sharing feature to stop the misuse of a single account.
